Facts about CAT:
- CAT includes 2 sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Logical reasoning and English (Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary).
- Through the 1990s the CAT exam remained more or less unchanged with 174 to 190 questions distributed in four sections.
- In the decade from 1999 to 2008, the total number of questions started decreasing although the number of sections remained the same. This tapering trend can be gauged from the diminishing number of questions from 165 to 150, to 123, to 90 and then finally to 75 in 2008.
- On 1st May 2009, it was announced that from CAT 2009 would be a Computer Based Test.
- In 2009 CAT the number of questions decreased to 60.
- From 2011, CAT has hadtwo sections - the first on Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation; the second on Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. Each of these has 30 questions and thereare 70 min. for each section.
- It is considered as one of the most competitive exams in the world.
- Percentages vs. Percentile – CAT scores are based on percentile and not percentage. While percentage can give an idea regarding the performance of individual students, percentile provides a better understanding of how individual scores compares to scores of other candidates. So if a candidate scored 98 percentile then it does not mean that he has gotten 98% of the total marks. Rather it means that he scored as well as or better than 98% of other candidates. It also means that 2% of the candidates scored better than him. In one sentence percentile means percentage of student below you.
- Sectional Cutoffs – CAT scores are today used by multiple institutes including IIMs. Many of these institutes actually ask for a certain cut off marks for each section. The cut off scores from each section will again vary from institute to institute. There are many institutes that do not require such sectional cut offs.
About CMAT:
Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is an online computer-based test conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), India. It is a national-level admission test for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE. There are 3500+ AICTE approved B-schools which are expected to take CMAT scores.Why CMAT
CMAT is aimed at reducing the burden on candidates due to appearance in multiple tests. CMAT scores will help students get admissions in AICTE approved Institutes/ University Departments in All Management programmes. Unlike other management entrance exams of similar nature, CMAT gives you a shot at the premier B-schools of the country such as JBIMS, Sydenham, KJ Somaiya, IMT and GIM among others.EligibilityCriteria

There are 25 questions in each section. The duration of test is 180 minutes, without any breaks. Students will have the freedom to move back and forth between sections. They are expected to show their competency in all the sections.
CMAT will rank its takers based on both the over-all test scores and individual sectional scores. Those with high overall scores will get better ranks.

The management aptitude test is an all India test that you need to take if you are an aspiring to be an MBA. Held at numerous cities and states across the region MAT is the exam that you need to clear if you are planning to get yourself enrolled in an MBA college.Though the pattern of the exam is same as that of CAT and has the same subject demarcations, MAT is commonly believed to be an easier examination than CAT.
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is conducted since 1988 by All India Management Association (AIMA) 4 times a year in the months of February, May, September and December. The minimum qualification is graduation in any discipline from any recognized university or equivalent recognized degree.
MAT has become popular with over 100 AICTE approved Institutions & University departments & 3, 00, 000 MBA aspirants have availed AIMA's testing services in the past six years.
This examination had thus, no doubt, given a new lease of hope to many a student. But with passage of time, hundreds of institutes of repute have started accepting MAT scores, making MAT no more an alternative but a leading management entrance examination in the country
Eligibility for Exam
A final-year student can also appear provisionally. The Test is generally conducted on the 1st Sunday of the aforesaid months and in various cities across the country. Aptitude/Technical Tests:
